As far as most stud earrings go, these are a definite WOW!!!! These are large studs, measuring just over 3/8″ wide & tall. They will cover most of the lobe and because the post is in the center these will sit nicely in the center of your earlobes. The purposeful placement of stones in this design create a very unique combinations of 3 different cuts. The main stone is an 8 X 8 large Asscher cut (3 carats).
What is an Asscher cut stone? Many don't know, which is strange considering this cut dates as far back as 1857, when the father & son team of the Royal Asscher Diamond Company patented the Asscher cut, making it the first signature patented cut ever in the world. This unique cut is a square, set with large step-cut facets. If you’ve ever seen an Emerald cut, then you’ve seen something very similar to this, although the Emerald cut is a lower quality derivative of the Asscher cut, which tends to sparkle more and has more step-cuts inside.
Set a bit lower than the center stone is a 6mm X 1.5mm baguette on all 4 sides, but the baguettes do not extend all the way out to the 4 corners, leaving a bit of space to put a 2mm round stone on each corner. When you combine the Asscher, baguettes and the 4 round stones, what you get is a very visually interesting design, with TONS of sparkle and uniqueness. Each stud has approximately 4 carats of sparkle.
The base metal is nickel-free sterling silver sealed in shiny rhodium-platinum to resist tarnishing when cared for properly. These have a post back with a slide-on butterfly, for pierced ears. These weigh 5.5 grams as a pair.
